Joining Arup

Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach have set us apart for 80 years, guiding how we shape a better world.

The role is to lead and develop our molecular fuels and decarbonised gas business with a particular emphasis on hydrogen, methanol, ammonia and carbon capture and underground storage business in the East Asia.

The Opportunity

This is a critical role for our energy business taking on technical and leadership of this fundamental area.  You will be part of the regional energy business reporting to the Energy Group Director and East Asia Business Leader with the responsibility to build the molecular fuels and decarbonised gas business, delivering a diverse portfolio of technology related advisory, engineering and consulting services projects throughout the project life cycle from strategy, design and operation.

In leading the molecular fuels & decarbonised gas market, the candidate will be a key member of the energy group, leading multi-disciplinary teams, managing bidding, work-streams and commissions for external and internal clients or partners.  The candidate will be adept at bringing people together with different perspectives and skill sets, with a focus to meeting and shaping the client’s needs by working internally with colleagues from other disciplines as well as external suppliers.  A key part of your remit will be to secure new and repeat work for the business via both internal contacts and external clients.

At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas.

You will have the opportunity do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.

Is this role right for you?

The candidate will have:

  • A strong understanding of the technical challenges and opportunities for molecular fuels and decarbonised gas.
  • Ability to take our broad range of technical offerings to market, as well as to develop integrated services tailored to client needs.
  • Deep hydrogen & CCUS expertise, including gas transmission and distribution, asset management, and operations.
  • An excellent grasp and understanding of the potential of technology with an advanced knowledge of energy technologies to be able to translate technical language into normal day to day business conversation.
  • Being able to positively influence clients and the team.

Experience across the molecular fuels & decarbonised gas market is our prime goal, but an appreciation of the wider energy sector would be desirable.
