We are looking for an Architect/Designer/Planner to join our Bogota Office to focus on architecture, urban design and planning assignments. You will join a multidisciplinary team of planners across the Americas region with a focus on identifying and delivering innovative planning opportunities for a range of client types. Our work seeks to uncover and strengthen the interrelationships between land use, transportation, economic and natural systems while being grounded in sustainable and resilient urban design. The scale of projects can vary from architectural concepts, urban and landscape site design assignments to large scale city planning.  We work in partnership with architects, urban designers and transportation planners. We also work independently, leveraging the skills and talents of our Integrated Planning team in partnership with experts in resiliency, civil engineering, building designs and information technologists.

The ideal candidate will share our passion for creating great places and achieving sustainable planning outcomes that help ‘shape a better world’. We seek an individual with growing technical experience and motivation to deliver innovative solutions. The candidate should have a minimum of 3 years of general professional experience and 1 or 2 years of specific urban design and planning experience. In addition, the candidate will have a strong background and understanding of both Colombian and international urban design and planning practices. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified applicant to support and engage in challenging projects and tasks.

 

Responsible for:

  • Supporting and coordinating urban design and planning studies at a variety of scales. Potential projects include urban design, urban and regional spatial and land use plans, urban analysis and data analytics, parametric modeling, urban and sustainability research, public space design, strategic urban planning, among others
  • Working in partnership with other teams supporting infrastructure, climate and disaster risk, and nature-based solutions projects where planning, urban/landscape design and architecture is a needed component
  • Supporting and coordinating diverse tasks in small, medium and large, complex, long-term projects – working with many different people/facilities/resources etc. within tight time and budget constraints
  • Conducting research and analysis both for project formulation and development
  • Supporting preparation of project presentations, graphic materials and coordination and project management activities both within the urban team and the broader office
  • Supporting and coordinating the preparation of proposals for the public and private sectors in Colombia related to urban and landscape design, urban planning and policy.
  • Contributing to building a dynamic, responsible and innovative urban team and supporting the development of our team
  • Executing responsibilities as outlined in the firm’s Quality Management System

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Urban Studies, Civil Engineering or Geography
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish is a must
  • Preferable: Master's degree in Urban Design, Urban Planning, Geographical Information Systems, Geography, Smart Cities, Digital City Design and Planning, or very similar
  • Minimum of 2 years of specific experience in urban design, urban planning and spatial analysis with relevant project experience

 

Core skills  

  • Knowledge of Colombia´s urban design, development and regional planning sector as well as international practices in these areas
  • Excellent command and experience with digital tools including ArcGis, QGis, Rhino, Grasshoper, Revit, Python, Adobe Suite
  • Experience managing Geo Databases, Programming and working with GIS Urban Modelling (model builder and multi-criteria analysis), Parametric modelling tools: Geostatistics and BIM will be highly valuable
  • Familiarity with socioeconomic and spatial analysis in GIS; strong analytical and quantitative skills, as well as a solid ability to translate data into planning insights and recommendations
  • Excellent level of written, verbal, presentation and communications skills both in English and Spanish is essential; in particular, solid written skills are fundamental
  • Interest in supporting/project coordination and ability to coordinate administrative activities
  • High level of analytical thinking and problem-solving, with a proactive approach to complex challenges
