In an increasingly competitive marketplace, our Marketing, Communications, and Business Development (MCBD) team enables Arup to build and protect our reputation, deepen client relationships, win quality work, and attract top talent. We are seeking to hire an experienced Marketing and Communications professional to lead our team that works with Arup University. This leadership role will be key in helping to articulate Arup University’s role in the delivery of our strategy and to achieve our strategic market and client ambitions.

Marketing - Strategy and Planning

  • Responsible for shaping and leading delivery of Arup University’s marketing and communications plan, aligned with our firm-wide marketing strategy, and ensuring ensure that Arup University is a valuable and recognised differentiator in the external market as well as internally

  •  Lead the development of a marketing and comms narrative for AU that clearly articulates its unique role and the value it adds in differentiating Arup and in delivering Arup’s Strategy.

  • Advise AU leadership on effective marketing and communications approaches and evolution of marketing skills to support successful achievement of AU priorities in delivery of the Arup strategy

  • Develop internal campaigns that both clarify Arup University's purpose and broaden equitable engagement with its resources across all geographies

  •  Monitor, measure and report on the value of AU marketing and comms activity, apply recognized metrics and align with MCBD approaches, particularly those adopted by our global business and services marketers.

  •  Line management of a small team, including performance management/appraisals, mentoring and career development

Qualifications and accreditation

Undergraduate or further degree, preferably in Marketing, Business, Management, Commerce or Economics and/or postgraduate professional qualification or accreditation in marketing or communications or equivalent experience

Knowledge and experience

  • 10+ years of experience in marketing or communications with a proven track record in delivering successful content and campaigns for a large, multinational organisation.

  • Significant experience in a similar strategic role including strategic marketing planning, delivery, and measurement generated.

  • Strong ability to create differentiating narratives and powerfully tell stories that deliver tangible value.

  • Experience of advising senior leaders on how to leverage the marketing and communications function strategically. 

  • Experience of people management, including resource allocation and management, skills development and positive stakeholder engagement

  • Operates independently and generates what is needed to deliver results and will ask for support as and when needed.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including active listening and influencing.

  • Able to build effective organisational networks and highly collaborative working relationships

  • Proven ability to build strong, trust-based working relationships with reports, peers, leaders and other stakeholders.

  • Strong team leadership and management skills, with experience of managing resources as well as mentoring and developing marketing professionals.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  •  High level of personal integrity, professionalism, and inclusive leadership. Commitment to exemplifying Arup’s aims, particularly those of being a ‘humane organisation’, maintaining ‘quality of work’, and ‘straight and honorable dealings’.

Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in the United States/Canada is $140,000 to $170,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of the United States/Canada will differ.
