The Opportunity
At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas. You will have the opportunity do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.
Operating within the Infrastructure Operations Centre alongside multi-skilled technical operatives, you will be responsible for identifying, engaging, and creating software automation solutions. These solutions will assist infrastructure engineers, multidisciplinary teams outside of infrastructure, and our internal customers by reducing manual rework and enhancing capabilities.
In this role, you will collaborate with other operations specialists and engineers who share a passion for technology. This environment will offer you opportunities to learn from others and share your knowledge in a cross-collaborative, supportive setting. With a varied infrastructure spanning multiple cloud environments and cutting-edge solutions across compute, networks, and the modern workplace, you will have the chance to expand your own skill set.
As part of the role, you will:
- Design, develop, and implement automation software solutions to streamline IT processes and reduce manual rework, collaborating with infrastructure and wider teams to identify automation opportunities.
- Develop and maintain code, scripts, APIs, and automation workflows using technologies and tools such as C#.Net, PowerShell, Python, JavaScript, Ansible, Power Automate, and Flow.
- Support the production of DevOps practices and requirements to create self-service cloud capabilities, enabling consumers of our services to deploy rapidly.
- Integrate automation with enterprise solutions such as Microsoft Intune, SCCM, Active Directory, ServiceNow, Azure, AWS, and other well-known platforms to provide cohesive automated solutions.
- Ensure security, compliance, and scalability in automated solutions.
- Monitor and optimize automation performance, identifying areas for continuous improvement.
- Provide documentation, training, and support for automated processes.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices.
A typical day will involve interacting with Technology Team Service Leads, Engineers, and Analysts, as well as your Technical Operations colleagues. Together, you will identify opportunities to improve service efficiency through automation workflows. You will take the lead on designing, documenting, implementing, validating, and assuring these solutions through thorough testing, ensuring they meet the required standards and deliver value to both internal and external stakeholders.
