Arup’s Aviation team in Australia focuses on providing a range of services related to aviation including airport planning, airport engineering and design, operations consultancy and sustainable development. Arup has been at the leading edge of aviation infrastructure design for over 60 years working on the physical design of airports and associated infrastructure, from control towers to passenger terminals, cargo and maintenance facilities, airfield assets such as runways, taxiways and aprons as well as ground transport access including stations and interchanges.

We currently have a rare opening for a NSW Aviation Business Leader. The position is a strategic leadership role with responsibility for advancing the aviation business in NSW and across the ANZ region through expanding our range of services and client portfolio, and contributing as a local business leader to the growth of our Transport Portfolio alongside Rail, Roads & Streets, and Maritime divisions.

The Opportunity

•    Drive aviation business development in NSW by identifying and pursuing strategic opportunities with existing clients and new aviation clients

•    Develop and execute a NSW-focused aviation growth strategy
 
•    Lead the development and conversion of a robust pipeline of aviation pursuits in NSW into secured projects, contributing to Arup’s regional growth targets

•    Establish and nurture relationships with key NSW stakeholders, including airport authorities, government agencies, and local consultants

•    Contribute to bids, project development and reporting, QA, H&S compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives

Is this role right for you?

•    Recognised, relevant tertiary qualifications in an engineering or aviation discipline

•    Extensive relevant aviation industry experience, ideally with experience working within a consulting business environment

•    Membership of relevant professional institutions/professional peer bodies

•    Experience across the aviation project life cycle with deep domain expertise in one or more of the following areas: aviation planning and master planning to IATA, ICAO and CASA standards; planning approvals including Major Development Plans; engineering, design and/or construction for brownfield expansion as well as new greenfield airports; acquisitions including technical due diligence, funding and PPP arrangements; operations, opening and transition including ORAT; Sustainable Aviation Fuels, hydrogen and electric fuel transition; new technologies including Advanced Air Mobility

•    Proven successful commercial, operational and business capability  

•    Substantial knowledge and experience in the aviation industry in APAC, ANZ and ideally in NSW

•    A strong professional profile, reputation and active client network in the aviation industry in APAC, ANZ and ideally NSW

•    A strong awareness and interest in major aviation and transport issues, emerging priorities and critical issues, as part of a wider aviation and transport agenda.
