The Opportunity

The purpose of this role is to support the delivery of high-quality civil and infrastructure engineering drawings, models and digital deliverables across a range of local, regional and international projects.

The role contributes to Arup integrated, multidisciplinary design approach by working collaboratively with engineers, CAD/BIM technicians and other disciplines to produce accurate, coordinated and timely project outputs from scheme design through to detailed design and final deliverables.

All documentation produced must be self-checked for accuracy, completeness, coordination, errors and omissions before issue and before submission through Arup’s internal review and checking processes, where applicable.

The role supports technical excellence, quality assurance, digital capability and efficient project delivery, while contributing positively to Arup’s culture of collaboration, learning, inclusion and innovation.

AutoCAD & Civil 3D are mandatory tools for our organisation. The job holder will be expected to be conversant with these tools and to continue eveloping CAD, BIM and digital skills through Arup learning resources, SharePoint self-learning tools, in-house guidance, project experience and support from colleagues.

Is this role right for you?

  • Prepare civil and infrastructure engineering drawings, models and related documentation under limited supervision and with appropriate autonomy for the role.
  • Support the production of project deliverables across different stages, from scheme design through to detailed design and final issue.
  • Produce drawings, models and documentation that are accurate, coordinated, complete and aligned with project requirements, Arup standards, client requirements and agreed deliverable schedules.
  • Self-check all drawings, models and documentation before issue, including checking for accuracy, completeness, coordination, errors and omissions, prior to submission for internal review and checking where required.
  • Ensure that drawings, details and models conform to the requirements specified by the project engineer, project manager or discipline lead, and promptly raise any discrepancies, variations, risks or coordination issues.
  • Work collaboratively as part of the infrastructure team and with multidisciplinary project teams to deliver coordinated outputs for a variety of projects, using appropriate technical, CAD, BIM and digital tools.
  • Support the resolution of CAD, Civil 3D, BIM and coordination issues, including working with engineers, other technicians and other disciplines to address drawing inconsistencies, modelling challenges or coordination matters.
  • Meet agreed project programmes, deliverable dates and deadlines for the production of drawings, models and documentation, while escalating potential delays, resourcing concerns or technical issues in a timely manner.
  • Keep accurate and timely records of work undertaken, including time spent on projects and administrative tasks, through the applicable timesheet system.
  • Support other CAD/BIM technicians and engineers across teams and projects when required, including through work-sharing, knowledge-sharing and practical project support.
  • Continue to develop CAD, Civil 3D, BIM and digital skills, including through self-learning, Arup University, SharePoint resources, in-house guidance, project experience and collaboration with colleagues.
  • Use technology and digital tools to improve the quality, consistency, coordination and efficiency in the production of project deliverables.
  • Demonstrate ownership for assigned tasks and contribute to continuous improvement by identifying more efficient ways of working and suggesting practical improvements to team processes.
  • Communicate clearly and constructively with colleagues, engineers, team leaders and project teams, asking questions where clarification is required and sharing relevant information in a timely manner.
  • Support Arup’s quality expectations by complying with project quality processes, the Arup Management System, HSEQ requirements, internal review processes, and the Firm’s policies and procedures.
  • Apply appropriate awareness of health, safety, wellbeing, sustainability, information management, confidentiality and data security requirements in day-to-day work.
  • Observe office procedures, professional standards and legislative requirements governing workplace behaviour and standards, including health and safety, dignity and respect at work, anti-harassment, non discrimination and appropriate workplace conduct.
  • Demonstrate continuous development and a growth mindset, taking responsibility for building capability, improving performance and contributing positively to Arup’s long-term strategy and values.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties aligned with the nature, grade and purpose of the role, as required by the Firm to meet business or project needs.

The job holder should demonstrate the following skills, experience and attributes:
