Job Opportunity
We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled Rail Team CAD Manager to lead CAD operations within our Rail Design Team. This role offers the opportunity to manage and inspire a team of CAD technicians, ensuring high-quality delivery across a range of railway and civil engineering projects. You will be responsible for overseeing CAD standards, resource planning, and technical development, while acting as a key liaison between design teams, clients, and contractors. Location: Manchester (with occasional travel to other offices and client sites)

Team Leadership & Management
- Lead and manage the CAD team’s workload and performance.
- Mentor junior technicians and support their development.
- Conduct skills evaluations and support recruitment activities.
- Identify training needs and implement development plans.
Project Delivery
- Oversee CAD production for railway and civil engineering projects.
- Ensure compliance with project CAD standards and QA procedures.
- Coordinate with design teams to produce 2D drawings and 3D models.
- Support BIM implementation and digital design workflows.
Technical Expertise
- Act as the focal point for CAD-related queries and guidance.
- Provide technical input to feasibility studies, investigations, and design reviews.
- Maintain drawing registers and ensure accurate documentation.
Collaboration & Communication
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, clients, consultants, and contractors.
- Represent CAD at management meetings and contribute to strategic planning.
- Share best practices across teams and contribute to CAD service development.
Skills & Experience:
- Strong track record in CAD management within rail or civil engineering environments.
- Proficiency in relevant software: MicroStation, Bentley Rail Track, ClearRoute, AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks.
- Experience with BIM and 3D modelling in infrastructure projects.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to manage resources and deliver to tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with railway safety procedures and design standards.
