The Opportunity

To work as a leader within the Construction Planning team, based in London, supporting Arup design teams from various regions.  The work will involve a widespread variety of infrastructure and building projects, covering various project stages from proof of concept to feasibility studies to completion of construction.   

Is this role for you?

The Construction Planner will: 

  • Lead others within the CP team 

  • Produce construction programmes using a variety of planning software including Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project (training to be provided as required).

  • Compile construction phasing diagrams, time location charts and other visual techniques to communicate project phasing and site logistics. 

  • Produce construction planning reports to explain programmes, phasing, risks, opportunities and assumptions.

  • Presentations to clients and project teams. 

 Requirements and Skills 

·       Essential Skills and Knowledge 

·       Excellent people management and leadership skills 

·       Excellent understanding of modern construction methods and constructability issues; 

·       Excellent understanding of construction logistics;  

·       Excellent understanding of planning and scheduling approaches; 

Qualifications: 

·       Ideally qualified to degree standard, in a related discipline; 

·       Chartership not essential given CP specialism  

Desirable skills and knowledge: 

·       Have an interest in how the construction industry is evolving, especially where carbon footprint and environment is involved.     

·       Have good communication skills. 

·       Have an interest in using new technology to improve communication of construction planning material, eg 4D construction planning.

·       Be self-motivated, proactive and flexible with regard to types of projects and responsibilities. 

·       Excellent presentation skills.

·       Able to develop relationships with other planners/ schedulers within Arup, as well as designers and project managers, in order to promote, develop and support the firm’s construction planning capability and services.
