Are you ready to make a direct impact on the future of sustainable buildings? As a Decarbonisation Intern you’ll be part of Arup’s green building initiatives, focusing on decarbonisation strategies, main requirements related to local code compliance and early design-stage energy modelling.
You’ll have opportunities to grow, tackle climate change challenges, and be part of energy-efficient design teams.
As a Decarbonisation Intern at Arup, you will:
Support design processes for a range of projects, focusing on energy efficiency and decarbonization strategies, ensuring sustainable, high-quality outcomes that exceed client expectations.
Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and stakeholders to deliver energy-efficient designs that meet or exceed Clients’ expectation and local standards in term of energy and decarbonisation.
Be involved in decarbonisation projects, participating in desktop analysis.
Incorporate sustainable principles during competition & early-stage design phases.
Collaborate with LEED practitioners regarding energy aspects.

We're looking for someone who is passionate about bringing the sustainable practices into the built environment. The essential skills and knowledge are:
Being enrolled in a Master’s degree in building engineering & architecture or building engineering.
Understanding of the main aspects of low carbon strategies for buildings and masterplans (operational and embodied).
Understanding of the main aspects of local code compliance and energy modelling
Good knowledge of basic Office package programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and CAD and Revit programs.
Good level of Italian (at least B2) and a good level of English (at least B2).
Able to work in multidisciplinary teams & systems thinking analytical capabilities.
The desirable skills and knowledge are:
Developing a Master Thesis on aspects related to energy efficiency and/or decarbonisation in operational phase.
Local code compliance software (e.g. Edilclima, Termolog, ANIT Leto, etc) and/or energy modelling software (e.g IES-VE, Design Builder, TRNSYS).
Parametric software for environmental, daylight and energy analysis (e.g. Grasshopper, ClimateStudio, etc)
Building services, especially mechanical/air-conditioning services.
Building physics and understanding of main aspects of active/passive strategies for buildings and masterplans.
International benchmark in term of operational energy (e.g. CRREM)
International study/work experience.
Second foreign language
