The Opportunity
Arup is seeking talented students to join our team in Dublin over the period of a few months. We look for students who are ready to jump into the professional world; diverse individuals with inquisitive minds and a desire to challenge.
You will work alongside skilled professionals and contribute to the success of real projects. You will also enjoy learning sessions with technical experts within your team, working on local projects and all kinds of social events.
As an Electrical Engineer work placement student at Arup, you will be working closely with experienced Building Services engineers to:
- Prepare and input to decarbonisation strategies for buildings with respect to both operational efficiency and adoption of renewable energy technologies.
- Assist project teams with the design of electrical services including electrical distribution systems, artificial lighting, fire detection, security systems, renewable technologies, electrical earthing and lightning protection systems.
- Developing engineering design in 3D models using Revit MEP.
- Carry out analysis of new technologies and how they can be incorporated into our projects to ensure a sustainable and robust design.
- Produce technical report and presentations.
- Working with Architects, Fire Engineers & other disciplines within Arup to develop designs.
- Gain exposure to real world professional environments and an opportunity to put your course learnings into practice.
- Visit construction sites to review progress and monitor the quality of installation works.
Our teams are involved in a wide range of sectors including Education, Commercial Real Estate, Science & Industry and Healthcare to name but a few.
Some of our recent projects of note include the refurbishment and extension of the UCD Science Block, UCD Centre for Learning Building, TCD E3 Learning Foundry and TCD Old Library Renovation. We are currently helping to deliver the National Children’s Hospital, the new National Maternity Hospital, office new build and retrofits, as well as several large-scale data centre projects across the European region.

Is this role right for you?
We're looking for students who are undertaking a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (NFQ Level 8/9 or equivalent).
