The Opportunity

We are seeking a student to join and support the Energy team in delivering consulting and engineering services, particularly related to renewable energy and energy storage.

You will support and join a team that has established a reputation for supporting global projects both in Spain and internationally. We provide advice, design, and planning support to major commercial, industrial, and institutional clients in the construction sector in Spain and worldwide.

Our portfolio of work varies in scale, from providing techno-economic studies to help client to implement a renewable energy strategy, to assessing how to reduce the dependency on non-renewable energies. Our projects include from sport stadium, logistic platforms, airports or data centres.

Career paths at Arup are diverse. In addition to our core energy services, we sit closely with other teams as the electrical sustainability teams and providing advisory services for energy generation, and full design, from viability studies to operation phase.

The team is growing and looking for the right candidate to support the delivery of a wide range of projects while helping our clients meet their goals and our own commitments to contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

 

Minimum requirements

  • Currently pursuing studies in Industrial Engineering, Energy Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar
  • Interest in using and reviewing building energy generation specialized software (i.e., PVsyst, Helioscope, Homer, etc)
  • Very high level of English and Spanish (fluency in both spoken and written)
  • Knowledge of principles of electrical systems, low and high voltage
  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems modelling software as Caneco, Amtech, Etap would also be valuable
  • Interest in technical and/or regulatory aspects of energy market and generation.

 

Assessable requirements

  •  Master's degree in Energy or Electrical Enginnering
  • Interest in renewable and distributed energy resources (i.e., photovoltaic solar energy, biomass, battery storage, thermal energy storage)
  • Interest in sustainable energy provision (i.e., PPAs, Renewable Energy Certificates, green tariffs)
  • Other languages such as French, Portuguese, or Italian would also be valuable

 

Conditions

  • Be enrolled in the university to be able to establish an agreement with the University
  • Immediate incorporation
  • Duration: 6 months of extendable internship (possibility of joining after completing the internship)
  • Schedule: From 20 to 40 hours per week to be defined with the student
  • Remuneration: will depend on the student's level of training and the number of hours established
