Expression of Interest – Building Engineering UPM students

Shape a future with purpose at Arup in Spain

Arup’s purpose, shared values, and collaborative approach have set us apart for over 75 years, guiding how we shape a better world.

We have been present in Spain since 1993 and we have a team of more than 420 engineers, consultants, and qualified technical personnel. We work for clients from the public and private sectors, providing creative and sustainable solutions based on the efficient use of resources.

At Arup, we value diverse expertise. With your background in Building Engineering and Business Administration, you’ll bring a holistic perspective to projects that combine design, management, and sustainability. You will collaborate within multidisciplinary teams across areas such as consulting, planning, building design, and operations—contributing to innovative solutions that transform urban environments and improve quality of life.

The Opportunity

This is a unique chance to explore the breadth of Arup’s work while applying your combined expertise in Building Engineering and Business Administration. You will gain exposure to diverse disciplines—from design and planning to project management and sustainability consulting—while contributing to solutions that shape resilient, future-ready cities.

You are already familiar with the work of our Project Management & Design Management, Business & Investor Advisory, Architecture, and Foresight teams through the event presentations in December 2025. If these areas spark your interest, you can express it—but remember, Arup encompasses many other disciplines, offering opportunities to collaborate across engineering, advisory, and design fields. This diversity allows you to shape your own path and discover where your skills can make the greatest impact.

As a Trainee at Arup, you will:

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across a variety of disciplines—beyond those you’ve already learned about—to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions for real-world projects.

  • Contribute to research, analysis, and design activities that support projects in areas such as building design, advisory, and planning, helping shape resilient cities and infrastructure.

  • Learn and grow by engaging with experts from diverse fields, gaining hands-on experience and discovering where your skills can make the greatest impact.

Does this role inspire you?

We invite undergraduate and master’s students in Building Engineering and Business Administration to apply. If you’re interested in the work of our Project Management & Design Management, Business & Investor Advisory, Architecture, or Foresight teams—or any other discipline at Arup—this is your opportunity to show it.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or master’s degree in Building Engineering or Business Administration.

  • A strong vocation to develop in one of the fields previously mentioned - Project Management & Design Management, Business & Investor Advisory, Architecture, Foresight - or other disciplines at Arup.

  • Fluent written and spoken English and Spanish (C1 level).

  • A proactive and dynamic attitude.

  • Interest in digital tools and technologies.

Conditions

  • Be enrolled in the university to be able to establish an agreement with the University

  • Duration: 6 months of extendable internship (possibility of joining after completing the internship)

  • Schedule: From 20 to 40 hours per week to be defined with the student

  • Remuneration: will depend on the student's level of training and the number of hours established.
