The Opportunity

This role is critical in supporting the Group Head of Finance Systems in delivering a large change programme over coming years as well as designing and implementing new standards and methodologies from a BAU perspective.

You will report to the Group Head of Finance Systems and support them to shape the direction of the Finance transformation in relation to the technical specification and the changes to processes that will support the system transformation.  

You’ll be instrumental in supporting the transformation project to streamline Finance systems and processes with an initial focus on delivering a new project accounting approach, ensuring the new finance modules and systems are configured efficiently to provide data that can be used and shared across the organisation to make informed decisions.

You will drive strategic input into finance transformation by engaging with stakeholders and end users to shape the vision and direction. Leverage deep understanding of Arup’s operations and finance systems to configure JDE for optimal reporting, governance, and control. Lead the migration of project accounting from legacy platforms into JDE, ensuring robust interfaces with business systems for effective data access. Collaborate across Finance, IT, vendors, and wider teams to ensure alignment, smooth implementation, and successful delivery.

You will have experience in delivering complex finance system implementations and an understanding of the impacts of these implementations from both a finance and technical perspective and you will bring a breadth of knowledge across all aspects of finance.

Is this role right for you?

We are looking for people who:

  • Have a CA/ACCA/CIMA qualification (or equivalent) with considerable post-qualification experience across accounting and business change.

  • Are a Financial Planning and Analysis expert with significant budgeting, forecasting and business partnering experience coupled with extensive senior experience of Financial Control, Balance sheet accounting and Project reporting 

  • Have successful delivered project accounting as part of a finance transformation programme in a complex environment including requirements gathering, understanding feeds and integrations required and driving consistency across multiple data sets involved

  • Have exposure to cross-functional integrated system implementations and the ability to achieve consensus on requirements and deliveries that support all areas across staggered implementations

  • Experience in data visualisation tools that can transform financial data into easy-to-understand information to help drive business decisions.

  • A self-starter who can lead and motivate and with the ability to prioritise effectively, juggling the varying priorities and deadlines across a wide range of topics.

  • A team-player with the ability and personal credibility to form relationships and influence stakeholders with strong project and stakeholder management skills
