Graduate Consultant – Strategy & Transformation Consulting

See it differently

You see the world through a unique lens and that’s exactly what we need. We embrace how you see things differently – it’s essential for creating a sustainable future.

Arup is a global consultancy with advisory and technical expertise across more than 150 disciplines. We guide, plan and design the future of the built environment. Globally, each year we recruit hundreds of graduates to help us see things differently and solve the most complex challenges facing our clients, climate and communities.

Strategy Consulting

Responding to global challenges requires rapid adaptation and transformation of the built environment. Our Strategy Consulting team brings together four core teams – Strategy & Transformation, Strategic Communications & Engagement, Data Insights & AI, and Data Advisory – who work together to help our clients navigate and deliver change.

As part of our growth ambitions, we are recruiting a motivated and driven graduate to join our Strategy & Transformation team. Find out more about Strategy Consulting at Arup.

The Opportunity

You’ll join a multidisciplinary team that helps clients navigate complex challenges, identify opportunities and deliver sustainable, transformational change. Our work spans infrastructure, transport, sustainability, digital transformation, organisational change and business strategy – so no two projects look the same.

From day one, you’ll learn how to design strategies, turn data into insight and communicate with stakeholders in a way that moves people to act. Initially a broad role, it gives you exposure across the wider Strategy Consulting team, with the opportunity to specialise over time – in strategy and transformation, communications and engagement, or a blend of both.

As a Graduate Consultant, you will but not limited to:

  • Research industry trends, market dynamics and emerging issues to inform strategy development.
  • Analyse qualitative and quantitative data to uncover opportunities and shape recommendations.
  • Help develop and implement strategic, organisational change and innovation initiatives that deliver real value to clients.
  • Prepare reports, presentations and business cases that summarise findings, recommendations and next steps.
  • Support stakeholder engagement and strategic communications, including workshops, consultations and client meetings.
  • Help coordinate project activities, timelines and deliverables.
  • Build strong client relationships through regular communication and responsiveness.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to solve complex challenges across the built environment.

Does this role inspire you?

We’re looking for graduates who are passionate about sustainable development and bring a curious, problem-solving and innovative mindset.

For this opportunity, we are seeking the following qualifications, skills and attributes:

A Level 8 (Bachelor’s) degree or above in a relevant discipline. We also welcome candidates who hold, or are pursuing, a Master’s or PhD. Relevant disciplines include, but are not limited to:

  • Business, Commerce and Economics
  • Management, Strategy and Management Consulting
  • Engineering
  • Psychology (including Organisational Psychology), Organisational Behaviour and Change Management
  • Communications, Social Sciences and Public Policy
  • Business and Data Analytics
  • Sustainability, Urban Planning and Transport Planning
  • Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn complex information into clear, compelling insights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including presentation and report writing.
  • Adaptability and an appetite to learn on the job.
  • Strong professional acumen and work ethic.
  • The ability to work as part of a team and independently, across multiple projects.
  • A sustainability mindset, with an awareness of the economic, environmental and societal challenges facing organisations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Teams).
  • An interest in infrastructure, transport, urban, sustainability and regional development.
  • Exposure to any of the following would be a bonus, but is not essential: Power BI, Miro, data visualisation, workshop facilitation, process mapping, business case development, change management methods, or AI-enabled tools such as Microsoft Copilot.

We’re also looking for:

  • Changemakers: A passion for sustainable development and creating a better world is key.
  • Innovative minds: We’re looking for critical thinkers who embrace new ideas and challenge the status quo.
  • Growth seekers: You have a growth mindset, always eager to learn and explore new ways of working.
  • Adaptable adventurers: You’re ready to take on any challenge that comes your way.
