The Opportunity
Arup is an independent firm of designers, planners, engineers, consultants and technical specialists offering a broad range of professional services. This position will be with the Specialist Technology, Analytics and Research (STAR) team in New York, NY, a center of excellence for technical innovation. We create new services and digital tools from cutting edge technologies and methods to advance Arup into new markets which usher in a safer, healthier, sustainable and resilient future. We are a multi-disciplinary team with deep technical expertise in the built environment and a passion for working on interesting problems.
Undertake numerical analyses using first-principles methods to solve our clients’ most difficult challenges
Perform and report linear and non-linear, static and dynamic structural finite element analysis, principally for structural and geo-engineering applications (e.g. earthquake, wind, and vibration analysis)
Collaborate with other structural engineers, civil engineers, mechanical engineers, and risk consultants on innovative buildings and infrastructure projects
Work on defined tasks under the close supervision of a senior engineer
Analysis, design, and communication of results to clients both internal and external to Arup
We encourage candidates who have interest/aptitude in any of the following:
Dynamics and seismic design, including performance-based design philosophies
Materials science and engineering
Computational fluid dynamics
Wind engineering and extreme environmental loading
Risk and resilience assessment and design across multiple natural hazards
Blast and impact design and analysis
Is this role right for you?
Required:
Minimum of a 4-year Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical or Architectural engineering
Fundamental knowledge of structural mechanics, dynamics, CFD, and/or risk modeling as appropriate
Preferred:
Minimum 3.0 GPA or higher

New York City Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in New York City, NY is $77,500 to $84,500 per year. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of New York City, NY will differ.
