Arup is seeking an experienced Lead Structural Engineer (Data Centers) to join our Property (Central) Structures team in Kuala Lumpur. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong and commercially minded structural engineer looking to play a leading role in the delivery of some of the region's most significant data center developments. Working alongside Arup’s local, regional and global data center specialists, you will help shape innovative, resilient and sustainable infrastructure for some of the world's leading technology and data center clients.
The Opportunity
• Lead the structural delivery of large-scale data center developments across Malaysia and the wider Asia region
• Provide technical leadership on complex structural engineering projects, ensuring designs meet the highest standards of quality, resilience, sustainability and safety
• Build and maintain strong relationships with data center developers, operators, investors, contractors and key industry stakeholders
• Support business development activities by identifying opportunities, contributing to proposals and strengthening Arup's presence within the rapidly growing data center sector
• Mentor and develop engineers and graduates, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Arup's global network to deliver integrated solutions for mission-critical facilities
• Represent Arup at industry events and contribute to thought leadership within the data center market

Is this role right for you?
• A degree in Structural Engineering and registration as a PEPC with the Board of Engineers, Malaysia
• Significant experience in structural engineering consultancy, with strong exposure to data centers, mission-critical facilities, industrial developments or other technically complex projects
• Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams and delivering major projects from concept through to construction
• A strong understanding of structural systems associated with data center developments, including resilience, constructability, heavy loading requirements and accelerated delivery programmes
• Proven ability to develop client relationships, win work and contribute to business growth
• Strong commercial awareness with an understanding of project delivery, risk management and financial performance
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence clients, contractors and project teams
• Knowledge of the Malaysian and Southeast Asian data center market, with an established professional network within the industry, would be highly advantageous
