The Opportunity
The Marketing Manager, Transport, EIMEA will help develop and implement Arup’s integrated marketing and communications plan for the Transport business across selected geographies to continue positioning Arup at the forefront of working with cities, transport authorities, operators and contractors to create smarter, lower‑carbon transport systems that connect people, places and economies.
The role plays a key part in partnering with the business to enable the full capability of the MCBD function to be effectively deployed against Arup’s business priorities as outlined in the integrated business plan (IBP) and in response to relevant Market Plans. This includes working closely with Global and Regional Portfolio, Business and Geography Marketing Managers, Communications Managers, Priority Pursuits and Bid Teams in particular.
Key responsibilities:
Strategic Marketing
- Provide strategic marketing expertise to support the Transport business in understanding and assessing the market including competitor landscape to inform strategic decisions and business plans, service propositions and market positioning.
- Provide strategic marketing advice and support to Transport Business Leaders, drawing on the full capability of the MCBD function as required.
- Collaborate with MCBD colleagues in the development and implementation of marketing plans, including providing input relating to the region and client context, competitor landscape, market challenges and opportunities etc.
- Assist in the tailoring of value propositions and translating service offerings into tangible benefits for the Transport market that address current and emerging client needs.
Marketing & communications campaigns and sales enablement
- Promote, build and maintain market awareness of Arup’s credentials in the Transport market, ensuring alignment with global market positioning, messages and materials through all channels.
- Lead the adoption of global marketing and communications campaigns across the region, localising and augmenting to ensure market relevance and client resonance as required.
- Develop and implement region wide marketing and communications campaigns and sales enablement plans in collaboration with MCBD to leverage specialist capabilities within the function to support business growth and success in the market.
- Curate and highlight Arup’s credentials by overseeing the creation and promotion of compelling project case studies, thought leadership articles and reports, client stories and targeted award entries.
- In collaboration with local Country/State/Office MCBD Teams provide Market / Business insight to shape impactful, bespoke campaigns related to regionally significant strategic pursuits and client engagement activities.
- Work in collaboration with Marketing Manager/s from other Portfolios/ Businesses/ Services to incorporate service offerings and related credentials into value propositions for Market/Business led marketing and communications campaigns and sales enablement initiatives.
Industry engagement
- In partnership with Business stakeholders and others in MCBD identify, assess and proactively manage Arup’s relationship with strategically important and regionally significant industry and business associations and similar bodies to enhance Arup’s reputation, broaden market reach, build relationships with clients/target clients and industry influencers and enhance work winning opportunities.
- Incorporate industry engagement as part of integrated marketing and communications plans and campaigns, negotiating and optimising high value opportunities aligned to achieving clearly defined marketing and business outcomes.
Client engagement
- Create opportunities for relationship building and lead generation through targeted marketing and communications campaigns and initiatives.
- Equip client-facing relationship managers, teams and others with impactful client engagement materials that enhance their ability to communicate Arup’s value proposition and highlight Arup’s capabilities and credentials.
- Support a high level of awareness and understanding of Arup’s Market credentials, capabilities and business priorities among client-facing members and those involved in client relationship management and business development.
- Provide marketing input to support priority pursuits and bids in collaboration with the broader MCBD and Business and Markets team.
Assessing return on investment (ROI) and sharing best practice
- Monitor and assess ROI on marketing and communications campaigns and sales enablement programmes, against industry standards and benchmarks, identifying and acting on continuous improvement opportunities.
- Sharing best practices, campaign outcomes and learnings with others.
- Critically assess marketing and communications opportunities and make sound recommendations to stakeholders to optimise ROI.
Leadership
- Supervise the tasks of more junior members

Is this role right for you?
- Undergraduate, further degree or equivalent experience, preferably in Marketing, Business, Management, Commerce or Economics; and/or a postgraduate professional qualification or accreditation in marketing.
- You are a highly skilled and visionary leader with a strong track record in professional services marketing, good knowledge of Transport markets and a drive to be part of shaping resilient, low‑carbon transport networks fit for a changing world.
- Relevant experience in senior strategic marketing roles within mature marketing and communications functions (experience across a wide range of marketing disciplines is highly beneficial such as: marketing strategy and planning, research and analytics, new product and service development, marketing communications, digital and social media marketing, strategic account management and account-based marketing).
- Ability to develop and deliver relevant, effective marketing plans, campaigns and initiatives that deliver a sound return on investment.
- Proven ability to manage significant projects through collaborative team-based approaches and effective project and stakeholder management.
- Ability to proactively use data to identify opportunities and inform improvements to marketing initiatives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Commercial acumen.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including active listening and influencing.
- Proven ability to build effective organisational networks and trust-based, highly collaborative working relationships with peers, leaders and other stakeholders.
