Mechanical Engineer

Arup’s Building Services Engineers tackle diverse challenges – from sustainable strategies to fire suppression systems, mechanical design and CFD analysis for data center project, and from drainage in high-rise buildings to supplying ultra-pure water and piping specialist gases and fluids for healthcare, science and industry facilities. Together with our mechanical and electrical engineers, we provide integrated building services to our clients.

The Opportunity

The Building Services (MEP) team has been growing consistently in the last 3 years, working on iconic buildings in the Netherlands and in Europe, on a diverse range of projects including Stadia, Luxury Hotels, Offices, Commercial, Healthcare, Science and Industry and Educational projects. The role offers excellent prospects for career development and the opportunity to be involved in different and challenging range of design projects. As Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in our Building Services Engineering team, contributing to multidisciplinary projects. Based in our Amsterdam office, you’ll be part of a team of over 20 mechanical engineers and technicians. 

As a Mechanical Engineer at Arup, you will:

·         Contribute to all stages of projects—from feasibility to completion—across sectors such as advanced manufacturing, healthcare, education, energy, sport, commercial, and mixed-use developments

·         Help clients progress toward zero carbon goals through innovative and sustainable design.

·         Support Arup’s digital transformation by exploring automation and integrated digital design solutions.

Does this role inspire you?

We're looking for a Dynamic and Proactive candidate that has a great interest in teamwork and in developing their career in the MEP field.

We also value:

·         Degree from an Engineering University (Building /Mechanical /Energy/ other relevant) or a relevant technical Diploma.

·         2-5 years of professional experience into the design and delivery of mechanical services.

·         Brings experience in Mechanical Building Services design for medium to large-scale projects, including calculations and report writing.

·         Demonstrates knowledge of low or zero carbon technologies.

·         Is proficient in BIM environments, particularly using Revit, and has experience with CAD

·         Is enthusiastic about working across a diverse range of projects and sectors & is experienced enough to be able to mentor and provide guidance to more junior members of the team.

·         Knowledge of sustainability principles.

·         Planning and organization skills.

·         Good level of written and spoken English and Dutch skills.

·         Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

·         Interest in sustainability

·         Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills with an eagerness to learn and apply new concepts.
