Primary focus
As a People & Culture Business Partner you will be responsible for delivering people programs and initiatives for the Business/State/Country that are aligned with Arup’s People Plan and Regional objectives. You will achieve this by working closely with your senior leadership team to understand specific business challenges and opportunities and translate these into people solutions and responses.
This role will deliver value adding solutions across a range of areas including strategic workforce planning, talent and succession management, culture & engagement planning, performance coaching, remuneration advice, organisation design & change, technical employment advice and complex case management.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to business strategy and plans by helping business leaders to identify, prioritise and translate business challenges into people solutions and responses.
- Support leaders in dealing with strategic talent challenges including forecasting and planning their future talent and workforce requirements in line with the function/business strategy.
- Consult to, support and provide expert coaching and advice to senior leaders and help support a strong leadership and coaching culture within the client group.
- Facilitate long-term people initiatives aligned with the strategic region and global people agenda.
- Work in partnership with specialist COE functions to leverage expert knowledge and experience and provide insightful and relevant input of specific or unique business needs in the design of key initiatives.
- Interface with the People Services Operations & Advisory teams and provide warm handoffs to ensure a seamless client experience for less complex (transactional and repeatable) employment matters.
- Understand engagement priorities in client groups and anticipate needs in designing engagement plans.
- Identify and drive the communication and sharing of best practices across P+C functions to facilitate continuous improvement.
- Act as a liaison between the business and People Services teams to ensure that services delivered are aligned with internal client needs.
- Identify new opportunities where P+C can add value to the business.
- Maintain a deep and current knowledge of progressive, leading people practices and key trends.
- Contribute to a constructive culture which enhances Arup’s people experience
Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant HR Business Partnering experience, with demonstrated ability to build strong client partnerships and trusted advisor status
- Demonstrated business and commercial acumen and a clear, comprehensive understanding of the link between people and business strategy outcomes
- Proven ability to develop clear, actionable steps in support of an overall business strategy and develop and deliver relevant, effective people solutions
- Bachelor’s degree in business, HR or related field.

- Proven experience working across multiple markets and leading regional initiatives.
- Strong strategic thinking, analytical skills, and ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience in matrixed organisations and cross-functional collaboration.
- Excellent cultural sensitivity and humility to embrace market nuances and allow adaptability
