Arup is a global consultancy with advisory and technical expertise across more than 150 disciplines. We guide, plan and design the future of the built environment. Globally, each year we recruit hundreds of interns to help us see things differently and solve the most complex challenges facing our clients, climate and communities.
We are currently seeking an Intern in one of our Canadian offices (preferably Toronto or Ottawa). As part of Arup’s commitment to reconciliation, this position is reserved for an applicant who is an Indigenous Person in Canada. During your in-person internship at Arup, you’ll have the chance to work with some of the most highly respected engineers and specialists in the world. You’ll also get the opportunity to work on exciting and significant projects, delivering quality work that has a positive and lasting influence on the community and the environment.
The opportunity
Job Shadowing
Work across various engineering, planning, and consulting discipline groups
Working day to day on billable and active projects related to your area of study/discipline/major
Actively engage in online technical training's
Engage in internal and external meetings (including potential client meetings)
Participate in local events (staff meetings, panels, and networking events)
Interpret and respond to design issues using listening and visual demonstrations
Provide perspective on projects and deliverables

Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Planning/Engineering/Environmental Science related area of study
Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way, both written and verbally
Attitude of taking independent initiative, exhibiting creative problem-solving, eagerness to learn, while remaining dedicated to teamwork
Must be highly motivated, proactive, and willing to take on new challenges.
Must not require sponsorship, now or in the future to be considered for this role
Preferred:
Academic research, coursework, or other experience within the built environment
Previous experience of technical presentations and technical writing through coursework

Ottawa Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Ottawa is $19 to $34.50 per hour. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Ottawa will differ.
Toronto Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Toronto is $21 to $38 per hour. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Toronto will differ.
