Principal Environmental Consultant
Joining Arup
Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 75 years, guiding how we shape a better world.
As part of our global strategy for enhancing energy planning and approvals, Arup is expanding its capabilities in Australia. We are focusing on building and managing essential relationships with clients and partners, starting in Queensland and NSW, with the goal of extending this success to other regions. Our aim is to grow the market for all our services, particularly by increasing the volume of work in early phase environmental planning and approvals for onshore renewable projects, including solar, wind, BESS, and transmission. We seek to foster relationships that will generate downstream environmental services during project development and delivery. To support this strategy, we are looking for a senior leader to join our environmental teams in QLD or NSW, bringing a strong track record in advising and delivering state (QLD and/or NSW) and Commonwealth approvals for onshore renewable energy projects.
This client-focused role requires the successful candidate to engage effectively with both public and private sector clients, developing a strong rapport with internal stakeholders to position Arup at the forefront of major energy projects. While the primary focus is on environmental services within the energy sector, there may be opportunities to support projects in other sectors, such as Transport, as the pipeline develops. However, priority will be given to energy sector opportunities and projects. If you have a well-rounded appreciation and expertise in this field, we invite you to be part of our journey towards sustainable energy solutions.
The Opportunity |
- Planning phase environmental approvals – efficiently and effectively guide the delivery of environmental approvals primarily in Queensland and NSW jurisdictions as well as under relevant Commonwealth legislation
- Delivery environmental support – guide projects through implementation of approval and other legislative requirements to meet legal obligations
- Work closely and collaboratively with the Energy Business leaders to provide strategic thinking and advice on how to best position for winning and delivering early phase works on Energy projects, with a view to leveraging downstream opportunities for other Arup business lines
- Articulate and follow through with a vision for the growth and development of environment services in the Energy Business
- Grow our market share in our target markets with a specific priority for the delivery of environmental planning and approval services in the renewable energy space
