Our New York office is looking for a Project Director to join our growing project and program management group. You will be providing leadership of delivery of project and program management services with respect to the planning, procurement, and delivery of program offices and large capital projects substantially within the science and industry and (private and government) space. The role will include significant business development and client relationship management responsibilities. We are also looking for someone who can help continue to grow our project and program management offering across the Americas by developing new client relationships, improving existing client relationships, and developing new opportunities and skills. 
 
As an Associate Principal, you will represent Arup as our Program and Project Management Lead primarily in the Science, Pharma and Industry space. In addition, you will

 

The Opportunity  

 

  • Be a leader in our East Geography PPCM (Project Program and Commercial Management Team) responsible for team leadership and staff development (circa 40 people). 
  • Be responsible for the management of the day-to-day delivery of client assignments with particular expertise in the program office environment including commercial controls, capital planning and similar. 
  • Integrate and manage teams of consultants (internal and external) to deliver high-quality output for our clients. 
  • Lead a broad array of business development activities including developing client relationships and preparation of proposals primarily in the science and industry space 
  • Develop your own skills to ensure ongoing flexibility and value to clients.
  • Support the development of new service offerings – particularly program office (PMO) capability across the Americas, and strengthening of existing skills – particularly procurement, contracting and commercial management. 
  • Establish links within Arup internationally to leverage experience and best practices in the above fields

Is this role right for you?

 

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Ideally a higher qualification in your chosen field eg MSc, MBA
  • At least 15 years of direct/client PPM responsibilities with significant Science and Industry Experience ideally in the US and Canada 
  • Relevant professional qualifications or ability to obtain through reciprocity or Certification within PPM (PMI), CM (CMAA), or Commercial Management (AACE) 
  • Ideally specialist certifications linked to appropriate specialism eg PgM, DBIA
  • Demonstrated experience in the planning, procurement and delivery of projects of a similar nature and scale working on the owner's side (ideally corporate and government owners) 
  • Specialist knowledge in the set up and running of Portfolio Offices, PMOs and/or various contracting and procurement forms (eg P3, Design Build (all variants), CMAR, alliance contracting etc)
  • Expertise in building development contracts and global corporate governance as it pertains to real estate and capital projects.  
  • Vertical construction experience, within the Science/Pharma/Industrial sector; 
  • Experience of working in project and / or client facilities as leading up a collocated team with other support from various home office locations 
  • The ability to work and deliver independently in a client facing role balancing project delivery and advisory work.

Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in New York City is $180,000 to $255,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of New York City will differ.
