As the Associate Principal – Rail Infrastructure Team Leader, you will lead the delivery of major rail and transport infrastructure projects across Vietnam while helping shape the future of sustainable mobility in the region. You will provide strategic leadership to multidisciplinary teams, driving excellence in project delivery, innovation, and digital transformation. Working closely with clients, government agencies, and industry partners, you will grow Arup's rail business while developing high-performing teams and delivering lasting value for communities.
The Opportunity
- Lead the successful delivery of complex rail and transportation projects, acting as Principal-in-Charge or Project Director on major infrastructure programs.
- Build and strengthen trusted relationships with clients, government stakeholders, and industry partners to support project success and future opportunities.
- Drive innovation, sustainability, and digital delivery across projects, ensuring high-quality technical outcomes and industry-leading solutions.
- Manage project performance, including design coordination, programme delivery, financial performance, reporting, and risk management.
- Mentor, coach, and develop multidisciplinary teams while contributing to strategic planning, business development, and the continued growth of Arup's rail infrastructure capability.

Is this role right for you?
- Extensive experience leading the design, delivery, and business development of major rail infrastructure projects.
- A recognised engineering degree with Chartered Professional Engineer status (or equivalent) and a strong technical background in rail infrastructure.
- Sound knowledge of Vietnamese transport regulations, international design standards, and infrastructure delivery practices.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams, developing talent, and fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture.
- Strong commercial, stakeholder management, and communication skills, with the ability to manage complex projects, budgets, contracts, and client relationships while delivering results under pressure.
