The Opportunity

Our Advisory Services Business has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Consultant to join our Midlands Assets & Operations team, to lead the delivery of advisory projects, focusing principally across the transport sector (aviation, highways and rail), but also utilities sector (water and energy) in the UK and further afield. This role will deliver on a range of high-profile and exciting projects with major infrastructure operators and will give you the opportunity to leverage your own skills to resolve problems and recommend solutions on projects. The position will be suited to a person with a consistent high-quality delivery track record and with a background in infrastructure asset management, operational excellence, facilities management and/or operations or similar discipline. You will possess sufficient experience to be able to independently apply your knowledge in an advisory context.

Is this role right for you?

We are looking for individuals who are looking to move into or establish themselves in an infrastructure advisory role. You will help win, manage and deliver projects providing strategic and operational advice to asset owners, operators, maintainers and investors, leveraging your own technical knowledge, professional experience and drawing on the wide pool of experts from across Arup and partnership organisations, as required.

You will be able to work independently and guide others working alongside you, demonstrating initiative and care in your day-to-day activities. You will coordinate delivery and contribute to developing strong client relationships to support the development of a pipeline of opportunities for key or target clients, both within the UK and abroad. This is a key role in our Assets & Operations business that will support and enable the growth of the Advisory Services stream of our business plan.

We anticipate that you will have experience in several of these disciplines and awareness and/or emerging interest in others. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include service delivery, project management and business development. 

Requirements:

  • Awareness of asset management and operations principles and experience implementing such principles for large infrastructure owner(s) with a large and complex portfolio of assets.
  • Experience in delivering asset management, operations and business improvement initiatives within a relevant infrastructure sector.
  • Awareness of how technology fits and could be driving asset management and operational excellence now and in the future.
  • Excellent project management and delivery skills, including financial, change and risk management.
  • Relevant chartership, professional qualification and membership of a professional body, or equivalent work experience.
