Senior Civil 3D BIM Modeller

The Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Civil 3D BIM Modeller to help develop our civil engineering and digital-delivery capability in the Netherlands. You will work on complex site-development projects across sectors such as data centres, industrial facilities, logistics, science and technology, commercial developments and healthcare. Working closely with civil engineers and multidisciplinary teams, you will create and coordinate Civil 3D and BIM models covering grading, earthworks, roads, drainage and underground utilities. This is a new position offering the opportunity to help shape modelling standards, workflows and ways of working within a growing team.
The role can be based in Amsterdam or Utrecht. Other locations in the Netherlands may be considered depending on the candidate profile. Hybrid working is available, typically with 2-3 days in the office.
As a Senior Civil 3D BIM Modeller at Arup, you will:
- Develop and maintain Civil 3D models for site grading, earthworks, roads, drainage, foul sewer networks and underground utilities.
- Coordinate plot levels, finished floor levels, utility corridors and associated civil structures.
- Produce BIM-compliant models and drawings in line with project BIM Execution Plans.
- Prepare general arrangement drawings, drainage plans and profiles, utility layouts, earthworks drawings and road-setting-out information.
- Coordinate civil models with architectural, structural and MEP disciplines.
- Participate in clash detection, multidisciplinary model reviews and quality-assurance processes.
- Support Common Data Environment processes and help improve BIM standards, modelling workflows and automated drawing production.
- Contribute to permit, tender and construction documentation for complex multidisciplinary projects
Does this role inspire you?
We're looking for someone who is passionate about practical, sustainable BIM modelling and enjoys turning multidisciplinary challenges into coordinated engineering solutions.
Experience with Navisworks, Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM Collaborate Pro, InfraWorks or Revit would be beneficial. Knowledge of Dutch standards and practices, including RD New, NAP, CROW guidance, RAW specifications and local utility coordination, would also be an advantage. Experience on data-centre, industrial or logistics developments is especially welcome.
We also value:
- Experience in civil infrastructure or site-development projects, ideally around 8 to 10 years
- Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D and strong AutoCAD skills.
- Practical experience modelling grading, earthworks, roads, drainage and underground utility networks.
- Experience producing detailed-design and construction documentation.
- Strong multidisciplinary BIM coordination and clash-detection capability.
- A diploma, degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology.
Confidence working collaboratively with civil engineers, architects, structural engineers and MEP specialists.
