The purpose of this role is to support Arup’s economics advisory offer across the Australasia region. This role is intended to help shape the future of Arup’s Investor Advisory service and will include client engagement, winning work, project delivery, on-the-job training and mentoring, and technical advice on economics matters. You will be primarily engaged in providing technical analysis and guidance across business case / feasibility study and economics advisory projects across various infrastructure subsectors.
You will bring technical excellence, economic modelling capability, strong writing and communication skills, and an enthusiasm for developing socially useful project outcomes.
The Opportunity
Lead and manage economic consulting projects across Asia Pacific, focusing on business cases for government infrastructure investment and macroeconomic analysis to support strategic decisions.
Deliver high-quality economics advisory work across multiple projects, ensuring outputs are completed on time, within budget, and aligned with Arup’s management processes.
Provide technical guidance by staying current with economic theory and policy trends, and contribute to building team capability and knowledge sharing.
Support business development through proposal preparation, multidisciplinary bids, and maintaining strong internal and external client relationships across Southeast Asia.
Build trusted client partnerships by delivering insightful economic analysis and fostering long-term relationships through quality work and collaboration.

Is this role right for you?
Degree in Economics, Finance, or related field, with substantial experience in economic consulting, infrastructure projects, or macroeconomic analysis.
- Minimally 8 years in economic modelling and analysis, including experience with complex project finance models
Familiarity with project finance structures and key credit metrics associated with well-structured transactions. An understanding of Public Private
Partnerships and underlying commercial structures and risk allocations
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

With positive momentum in the area of PPP and project finance advice, Arup requires a motivated individual with proven financial advisory experience with major infrastructure projects. The purpose of this role is to support the finance and economics offering across Southeast Asia, from our Kuala Lumpur office. This is a high impact role that will help shape the future of Arup’s Advisory business and will include client engagement, work winning, project delivery, training and mentoring and technical advice. You will provide focus, continuity and technical guidance across infrastructure advisory projects across various infrastructure subsectors.
The Opportunity
- Manage economic consulting engagements across Southeast Asia, focusing on government investment in infrastructure and macroeconomic trend analysis. Assist in business case preparations, manage multiple projects, and ensure timely, budget-compliant delivery.
- Stay updated on economic theory and policy developments, contribute to team training, and participate in the Economics Skills Network.
- Support proposal preparation, collaborate on multidisciplinary bids, and maintain internal relationships within Southeast Asia, particularly in strategy consulting and various planning sectors.
- Provide high-quality economic analysis, establish trust with clients, and develop and strengthen client relationships.

- Holding a relevant qualification, having an expertise in financial modelling and analysis, including experience with complex project finance models
