The Opportunity

Our team is looking to strengthen its project level leadership through the recruitment of an electrical engineering lead who can provide a combination of technical, project and business area leadership. They will hold specific multi-disciplinary technical leadership and management responsibilities within the Property or Science business areas.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer you will be responsible for the production of the electrical and MEP designs on your projects and as such will be accountable both to project leaders and the electrical discipline within the business, taking responsibility for projects from inception to completion to achieve outstanding results. Day to day you will prepare and co-ordinate electrical reports and specifications and undertake comprehensive technical review of submittals from contractors. You will design, develop and produce high quality electrical designs for your projects involving sketches, calculation plans, technical studies, drawings, reports and models. Alongside your project work, you will also provide technical guidance and mentoring to our junior engineers on the team.

Responsibilities:

  • ·       Leading Arup multi-disciplinary design teams from project inception through to completion
  • ·       Communicating our designs with our clients and collaborators
  • ·       Working with the Internal team to deliver holistic design solutions
  • ·       Utilising BIM for reviewing design coordination
  • ·       Managing the design programme
  • ·       Chairing internal and external design team meetings
  • ·       Working with the Project Director to ensure commercial success

Is this role right for you?

We’re looking for a candidate who:

  • ·       Is professionally registered with a relevant engineering institution.
  • ·       Has a degree level qualification in electrical engineering or a related subject.
  • ·       Has knowledge and interest in sustainable building design in terms of both energy and carbon, and satisfying associated regulatory and voluntary codes.
  • ·       Has detailed knowledge of relevant British Standards (including BS 7671, BS 7430, BS 5839, BS 9999, BS5839) 
  • ·       Possesses excellent technical aptitude and experience in a range of electrical service design software.
