Joining Arup

Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 80 years, guiding how we shape a better world.

As a Senior Civil & Structures Engineer, you will play a leading role in delivering sustainable and innovative rail and transport infrastructure solutions across Singapore and the Southeast Asia region. You will be responsible for providing structural engineering expertise throughout the full project lifecycle, from feasibility studies and concept development through to detailed design, authority approvals, and construction support. Working within multidisciplinary project teams, you will collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and technical specialists to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality infrastructure outcomes.

The Opportunity

  • Lead the structural design and delivery of MRT, railway, and major transportation infrastructure projects, including underground structures such as stations, tunnels, shafts, and ancillary facilities.
  • Prepare, review, and approve structural calculations and designs in accordance with Eurocodes, Singapore standards, and Land Transport Authority (LTA) requirements.
  • Manage and mentor engineers and drafters, providing technical guidance and ensuring the quality and timely delivery of project outputs.
  • Coordinate effectively with clients, architects, geotechnical, civil, MEP, and other multidisciplinary teams to resolve complex engineering challenges and deliver integrated design solutions.
  • Produce technical reports, authority submissions, project correspondence, and construction-stage support documentation while managing project risks and programme commitments.

At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas.

You will have the opportunity do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.

Is this role right for you?

  • A Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering recognised by the Professional Engineers Board (Singapore), with a minimum of 10 years' relevant experience in structural engineering.
  • Extensive experience delivering MRT, railway, or major transportation infrastructure projects in Singapore, including the design and construction of underground structures.
  • Strong technical expertise in structural analysis and design, with proficiency in software such as ROBOT, SAFE, or equivalent finite element modelling tools.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Singapore structural design standards, Eurocodes, and LTA requirements, including managing authority submissions through to approval.
  • Proven leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead design teams, manage multidisciplinary interfaces, and mentor junior engineers while working with minimal supervision.
