Joining Arup

Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 80 years, guiding how we shape a better world.

As an ICT Infrastructure Design Lead, you will lead the design and delivery of ICT physical infrastructure solutions for major infrastructure, data centre, smart campus and mixed-use developments across Malaysia and Southeast Asia. You will provide technical leadership across the full project lifecycle, ensuring high-performance, resilient and integrated ICT infrastructure that meets client, industry and regulatory requirements. Working within multidisciplinary teams, you will drive design excellence while supporting project delivery, business growth and the development of Arup's regional ICT capability.

The Opportunity

  • Lead the design and delivery of ICT physical infrastructure packages, including structured cabling, cable containment, pathways, risers, ICT rooms and communications network infrastructure.
  • Manage the production and quality assurance of design deliverables, including drawings, specifications, technical reports, calculations and tender documentation using AutoCAD and BIM workflows.
  • Coordinate ICT infrastructure design with clients, architects, structural, MEP and specialist disciplines to deliver integrated, buildable and high-quality solutions.
  • Support construction activities through technical site investigations, shop drawing reviews, responding to technical queries and coordinating on-site design issues where required.
  • Mentor junior engineers, contribute to proposal development and resource planning, and support the continued growth of Arup's ICT business across Malaysia and Southeast Asia.

You will have the opportunity do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.

Is this role right for you?

  • A degree in Information Technology, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, with at least five years of experience delivering ICT physical infrastructure projects.
  • Strong expertise in structured cabling systems (copper and fibre), cable containment, pathways, ICT room planning and the integration of ICT infrastructure with building services.
  • Sound understanding of ICT networks, IT and OT architectures, and the building services requirements for ICT systems, including power, cooling and environmental considerations.
  • Proven experience preparing technical documentation, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and delivering projects in accordance with recognised industry standards such as COPIF, TIA-942, ISO, IEEE or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering high-quality, resilient ICT infrastructure solutions.
