The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with deep experience in large-scale data center and mission critical facilities to strengthen our growing Dallas team. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer within our Mission Critical team, you will serve as a key technical leader in the design and delivery of complex, large-scale hyperscale data center projects. You will bring subject-matter expertise in advanced mechanical systems while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated, resilient, and scalable infrastructure solutions. This role combines hands-on engineering, technical leadership, client engagement, and mentorship.
The opportunity:
- Lead mechanical system design for mission critical and hyperscale data center projects.
- Design and oversee complex HVAC systems including:
- Large-scale airside systems (AHUs, CRAHs, DOAS, containment strategies)
- Chilled water plants and hydronic distribution systems
- Cooling towers, heat rejection systems, and water-side economization
- Specialty exhaust and ventilation systems
- Develop scalable, redundant (N+1, 2N, 2N+1) system architectures aligned with uptime requirements.
- Coordinate closely with electrical, structural, and architectural teams to deliver fully integrated design solutions.
- Partner with Project Managers to ensure high-quality, on-time, and on-budget deliverables.
- Prepare and review drawings, specifications, technical reports, and design narratives.
- Support construction administration, commissioning, and site inspections.
- Maintain strong client relationships, supporting repeat business and long-term partnerships.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical oversight to project teams.
- Uphold Arup’s quality standards, commercial performance metrics, and technical excellence.
The Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering.
- Minimum 8+ years of experience designing complex building HVAC systems, including significant experience in mission critical or data center facilities.
- Demonstrated experience on large-scale hyperscale data center projects.
- Strong knowledge of redundancy strategies, resiliency planning, and mission critical design best practices.
- Proficiency in Revit MEP.
- Strong coordination experience in multidisciplinary environments.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced, schedule-driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineering (PE) license in Texas.
- Experience working directly with hyperscale data center clients.
- Experience supporting commissioning, startup, and construction administration.
- Familiarity with industry standards and guidelines relevant to mission critical facilities.
- Experience mentoring engineers or leading small project teams.

Dallas Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Dallas is $117,400 - $147,800 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Dallas will differ.
