We are seeking a Senior Protection & Control Design Engineer with technical experience in the design of HV substations for power utilities and for the interconnection of renewables and data centers. In this role you will support the delivery of substation detailed design projects from the conceptual phase through design completion for electric utilities, contractors and developers. You will be the technical interface with clients and internal team members. This position can be worked out of our Toronto office.
The opportunity
- Perform the engineering design, technical strategy, and delivery of HV and EHV substation projects for power utilities and for the interconnection of renewables and data centers.
- Prepare substation P&C design packages including: single‐line diagrams, protection and control schematics, elementary and wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, control house specification, cable schedules, and bills of materials to quality, time and budget requirements.
- Perform substation studies and calculations including: AC auxiliary system sizing, battery sizing and voltage drop.
- Provide construction support and inter-disciplinary coordination.
Is this role right for you?
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
- At least 6 years of experience in 15kV through 345kV P&C utility substation design and IEEE/ANSI standards.
- Capability to operate autonomously and cooperatively, as required, to accomplish agreed-upon objectives and outcomes.
- Excellent communication skills — able to interact with clients, regulatory bodies, vendors, and internal partners. Ability to represent the company credibly.
- Willingness to travel occasionally as needed (site visits, client/vendor meetings).
- The ability to prioritize work effectively, manage deadlines and organization skills required for our constantly evolving environment.

Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Toronto is $110,000 to $140,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Toronto will differ.
