The Opportunity

Arup Vietnam is seeking a motivated Grade 6 engineer to join its structure team located in Ho Chi Minh City. The candidate will have opportunities commercially and technically lead challenging and exciting projects in a Client facing role. As a key member of staff, within a growing business, the candidate will have the opportunity of personal development in terms of involvement in business development, bid preparation, contract negotiations and general day to day business activities. This wide ranging role is an excellent opportunity for career development in a dynamic and growing business.

  • Overall responsible and accountable for several teams or an entire discipline.  May individually handle varying projects from time to time depending on size and requirements.
  • Assigns projects to Lead Engineers, maintaining constant monitoring of project status through review of submitted project progress reports.
  • Provides technical expertise and direction through consultative support and technical training to the teams in the same or other disciplines within the firm.
  • Ensure operation in accordance with local Quality Assurance procedures.
  • Maintain constant monitoring and reporting on project progress, resources and financial status.
  • Supports the Group Leader in the financial aspect of the structural project/s by managing resources within defined budgets and Arup fee scales.
  • Assists in the development of new business and generation of repeat business opportunities.
  • Contribute to the development of good practice within discipline through involvement with skills networks.
  • Liaise with Project Managers, relevant Skills Network and 3rd Parties (i.e. Clients, Consultants and Contractors).
  • Liaison with relevant internal and external parties to ensure understanding of the client’s needs and project requirements.

Is this role right for you?

  • Licensed grade 1 Structural Engineer, post graduate studies an advantage.
  • 12+ years’ experience in a similar capacity with extensive exposure on design of high-rise structures and industrial facilities as well as management of multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of general analysis and seismic design software (ETABS/ SAFE/ SAP…).
  • Highly developed oral and written English communication skills.
  • Very good leadership and mentoring skills as well as effective practice of time and stress management.
  • Excellent team orientation and with extensive capacity to liaise with external relations.
