The Opportunity

As a Structural Engineer at Arup, you will:
- Deliver structural engineering services on a wide range and types of projects covering new-build and transformation, including all design phases, permitting processes and the opportunity to do site inspections when possible.
- Have an active role in internal/external coordination through most phases of multidisciplinary projects, where Arup offer a fully scope of engineering services including structural design, ensuring that our deliverables are high quality.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues across disciplines like geotechnical engineering, buildings physics, fire safety, and acoustics, mechanical, electrical and public health engineering, and digital teams, as well as our business development team.
- Contribute to innovative solutions that meet the highest standards of sustainability, total design, and technical excellence.
- Engage with clients, participate in workshops, and support the development of digital, computational and parametric tools and workflows that enhance project delivery. Your contributions will help strengthen Arup’s reputation for creative problem-solving and will play a vital part in shaping the built environment in the Netherlands and beyond.
- Review and self-check your own work and prepare review packages for internal/external quality assurance.
Does this role inspire you?
We are looking for a talented structural engineer with a minimum of 3 years of experience, to be part of our successful building structures team in Amsterdam to support the team to achieve even greater success and we offer a range of possibilities for you to develop your career further. We also value:
- Engineering Degree.
- 3-5 years of experience working as a structural engineer.
- Experience in structural design and detailing of connections with main structure materials like concrete and steel.
- Has finite element and other structural software skills (e.g. Oasys GSA, SAP, MIDAS, etc.).
- Basic experience in structural design and detailing of connections.
- Knowledge about parametric design for modelling and performing structural analysis of complex geometries.
- Basic knowledge about Building Information Modelling (BIM).
- Interest in parametric design for modelling and performing structural analysis of complex geometries.
- Skills in 3D modelling using Revit, Rhino, AutoCAD and/or similar.
- General experience in working on building projects, such as given structural input for architectural competition, writing specification for your discipline and preparing structural documentation.
- Experience with designing timber structures as an advantage.
- Fluency in Dutch and fluency in English as requirement.
