Technical Director Energy (m/f/d)

Berlin / Düsseldorf / Frankfurt am Main/ Munich

The opportunity

As our Technical Director Energy at Arup, you will :

  • Be leading our Energy infrastructure related activities in Germany and provide technical leadership to complex projects in the space of power transmission networks, electricity interconnectors, green hydrogen or geothermal.
  • Further develop and support our energy business offerings, provide technical leadership, proactively identify new business opportunities, and build strong relationships with local clients
  • Driving the continued growth and market recognition of the Arup Energy Business and Arup Brand in Germany.
  • Increasing Arup’s work on Energy projects across existing and new clients to secure a strong pipeline of work with a focus on Transmission System Operators in Germany.
  • Developing and implementing new service pillars to further strengthen our existing service offerings in the fields of Renewable Energy Advisory (e.g. Technical Due Diligence, Project Management and Hydrogen).
  • Contributing to both service offerings, Advisory Services as well as Engineering Design Services.
  • Promoting knowledge sharing skills and expertise in Arup across Europe

Does this role inspire you? 

We're looking for someone who is eager to set the vision and priorities for Arup’s Energy Business Plan in Germany and keen on increasing Arup’s work on Energy projects across existing and new clients to secure a strong pipeline of work with a focus on Transmission System Operators in Germany. We also value: 

  • University degree in electrical engineering or other fields related to the energy sector.
  • 20+ years of experience developing and implementing energy projects with a strong engineering background.
  • 10+ years of experience leading project teams in the energy sector.
  • Very good knowledge of the German energy market with focus on large utility companies and a strong network in the German energy market.
  • Fluent in German and English (written and spoken)
