Our Civil Engineering team in Spain delivers integrated solutions across data centre, industrial and infrastructure projects. Working within multidisciplinary teams, we design the utility networks and drainage systems that enable complex developments to operate safely, efficiently and sustainably.
The Opportunity
As our portfolio in Spain continues to grow, we are looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to provide technical leadership in external underground utilities and drainage design.
You will lead the design and coordination of water, foul sewer, surface-water drainage and dry utility networks for major developments. Acting as the technical lead for civil utilities and drainage packages, you will collaborate with civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and BIM specialists to resolve complex interfaces and deliver coordinated solutions.
This is an opportunity to take a leading role on major data centre, industrial and infrastructure projects while strengthening Arup’s technical capability in utility and drainage design.
As a Senior Civil Engineer at Arup, you will:
Lead the design and coordination of water supply, fire water and other pressurised networks, foul sewer, surface-water drainage and dry utility networks from concept through detailed design.
Act as the technical lead for utilities and drainage packages across major developments.
Lead and review hydraulic calculations, drainage models, network sizing and stormwater management solutions.
Coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces across civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and BIM disciplines.
Identify and resolve utility conflicts, design constraints and coordination issues.
Review and approve calculations, models, drawings, reports and other technical deliverables.
Ensure designs meet client requirements, programme commitments and applicable technical standards.
Provide technical guidance and quality oversight to engineers and designers working on civil infrastructure packages.
Support the successful delivery of data centre, industrial and major infrastructure projects in Spain and internationally.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about technically excellent infrastructure design and the delivery of coordinated solutions for complex developments.
We also value:
Demostrable significant professional experience leading the design of external utility and drainage networks for large-scale developments.
Proven experience delivering utility infrastructure and drainage designs from concept through detailed design.
Strong understanding of hydraulic design principles, including gravity and pressurised networks.
Advanced capability in InfoDrainage and also Civil 3D.
Experience with drainage-modelling software such as InfoWorks ICM, SewerGEMS or an equivalent platform.
Experience coordinating complex multidisciplinary design interfaces and resolving utility conflicts.
Professional proficiency in both English and Spanish.
Experience delivering industrial, logistics, hyperscale data centre or major infrastructure projects is more than welcome.
