Arup’s Integrated City Planning Team delivers an integrated approach and sustainable solutions to the design of cities and complex urban environments. We are a collaborative team of urban designers, architects, landscape architects, economists, planners, and sustainability experts working together to shape, justify, design, consent, and deliver transformative projects.
Within ICP, the MPUD team designs cities and places: influencing and shaping the physical, social, and economic infrastructures that power sustainable development. We are a diverse and experienced team committed to delivering sustainable development.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a Parametric Modeler / Urban Planner to join our India team and support a wide range of international projects. The role will focus on integrating computational and parametric design into urban planning, while collaborating with expert teams in the UK and Southeast Asia to adapt best practices for the local context. This position will play a key part in establishing a regional centre of excellence in India.
Responsibilities include creating and implementing parametric workflows, building reusable design components, and delivering data-driven urban solutions through scenario modelling and performance analysis. The candidate will also mentor junior team members, foster innovation, and contribute to forming a dedicated parametric modelling team in India—helping shape the future of urban planning in the region.
Is this role right for you?
We'd love to hear from you if you have -
Degree in Urban Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, or related field; Master’s preferred.
Proven experience in parametric modelling and computational design for urban projects.
Strong analytical, design, graphics, and presentation skills with ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Proficiency in Rhino, Grasshopper, Python scripting, GIS tools (QGIS/ArcGIS), and 3D modelling.
Familiarity with AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, MS Office; knowledge of BIM tools and visualization software (Lumion/Enscape) is an advantage.
Excellent communication skills and experience mentoring junior team members.
