We work across the entire water cycle, with utilities, local and regional governments, commercial and domestic water users and other partners. From designing and maintaining key water infrastructure to advising on natural catchments and flood defences, we help clients to consider the long-term economic, environmental and social dimensions of their proposals.
The Opportunity
As the Water Business Leader of Arup Spain, you will transmit your experience in various facets of the water cycle, encompassing strategic advisory services, potable water supply, wastewater treatment, stormwater systems, climate adaptation and a comprehensive understanding of the economics within the water sector. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in developing our water business in Spain and supporting the growth of our wider water business in Europe.
As a Water Business Leader for Spain, you will be expected to bring extensive expertise in the following areas:
- Business Leadership; developing and growing a water sector focussed business.
- Providing Water Consulting Services: demonstrating proficiency in delivering advisory and engineering design services across the water cycle.
- Client Engagement and Relationship Building: utilizing your knowledge and experience to establish and nurture client relationships, translating design issues into meaningful discussions that contribute to securing and delivering projects across advisory, consultancy, and engineering domains.
- Project Management: leveraging your relevant water consulting or professional engineering experience in a project management role, to oversee and lead significant professional services commissions in the water sector.
As a Water Business Leader at Arup, you will:
- Own, develop and implement the Water Business Plan for Spain in line with the Arup Water Strategy
- Identify, manage and deliver water bids, both in the private and public sectors, as well as in national and international markets
- Lead the coordination, management and preparation of tender processes
- Develop and maintain relationships with key partners, advisors and clients
- Grow the water business in Spain, identifying capabilities and opportunities based on ample knowledge of the water market
- Lead and manage the successful delivery of high-profile multidisciplinary water projects as Project Director
- Working closely with the water leader in Europe to support the wider aspirations for growth.
- Coordinate and collaborate with internal water teams in Europe, UK, America and Australia.
Does this role inspire you?
We are looking for someone proactive and dynamic that wants to make an impact in the Water Business. Ideally, you’ll bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in water/environment focused engineering or science.
- Proven client-facing business experience.
- Deep knowledge of the water sector in Spain, with an understanding of the international market, including suppliers, independent consultants, potential clients and partners.
- Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and demonstrate leadership skills.
- A track record of winning and leading substantial professional services commissions across the water cycle.
- Proven skills to autonomously manage projects valued between 500-1000k EUR with the quality and innovation required by the clients.
- Proactive attitude towards management.
- Fluent level of English and Spanish written and spoken skills
- Professional accreditation
- Actively involved in professional organizations and well-networked in the water business community in Spain
Bonus points if you have:
- A post-engineering management degree would be advantageous.
- Used to work in a BIM and Digital environment
- Used to work with commercial water software
