We are looking for a Sustainability Consultant with a focus on Embodied Carbon & Circular Economy to join our Sustainable Development Team within Arup Milan Office. 

 

The Opportunity

This unique role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of circular economy, decarbonisation, innovation and impactful change. You'll be at the forefront of supporting the transformation of the construction supply chain and relevant stakeholders toward the implementation of circular and low carbon strategies.

You’ll be working with high-profile clients, gaining exposure to cutting-edge projects, and driving meaningful change that positively impacts the planet.

 

As a WLCA Circular Economy Consultant at Arup, you will be responsible for:

  • Whole Life Cycle Assessments: embodied carbon calculation by means of specific calculation software (knowledge of OneClick LCA required) for buildings and infrastructures 
  • Circular economy framework and action plan development to help businesses reduce their carbon footprint, minimize waste, and develop circular business models.
  • Supporting the project leader in the analysis of results and identification of recommendations and actions for improvement, research for low impact,  recyclable/reusable and recycled content materials 

 

Does this role inspire you?

We're looking for someone who is passionate about working on innovative and challenging projects at the intersection of research and innovation in circular economy and whole life cycle assessment. We also value:

  • A Master’s degree in a relevant field
  • Technical knowledge and at least 3-5 years of work experience in a relevant field.
  • Technical experience with circular economy and waste management topics including evolving diversion technologies and methodologies, zero waste hierarchy, environmentally preferrable purchasing and extended producer responsibility.  
  • Whole Life Cycle Assessments, low carbon materials and circular economy technical solutions in the built environment.
  • Experience working with relevant stakeholders in the real estate and manufacturing sectors to develop circular economy services and projects.
  • Strong track record of collaboration with other subject matter experts to drive the timely completion of client facing deliverables.
  • General understanding of high-performance green building design, construction, and operations.
  • Knowledge of construction technologies, materials and building elements  
  • Analytical skills and great familiarity with spreadsheets for data analysis 
  • Proficient level of English & Italian (at least B2) - excellent written and verbal communication skills
