As a Geotechnical Engineer at Arup, you will work closely with clients and project engineers to understand project requirements and deliver high-value, ground-informed solutions. You will investigate, analyse, and interpret ground conditions to inform safe, efficient, and innovative design outcomes. From early-stage consultation through to detailed reporting, you will help clients get the very best value out of the ground.
The Opportunity
• Undertake geotechnical design and analysis across a range of projects, including desktop studies, investigation scoping, geotechnical interpretation, design calculations, drawings, specifications, and reporting under limited supervision.
• Plan, specify, and manage site investigations and laboratory testing programs, including input into logistics, H&S management plans, and on-site implementation.
• Collate and analyse field and laboratory data, performing geotechnical analyses to support project design and delivery.
• Liaise with internal engineers, project teams, clients, sub-consultants, and contractors to develop project-specific solutions and maintain strong working relationships.
• Deliver high-quality technical outputs in line with Arup’s Quality Management System, ensuring accuracy and excellence in your work.

Is this role right for you?
• A recognised tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering and eligibility for Chartership with Engineers Australia (or equivalent).
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in geotechnical design and construction, including medium to large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Experience planning, managing, supervising, and interpreting geotechnical investigations.
• Working knowledge of industry-standard geotechnical software such as gINT, OpenGround, Slope/W, PLAXIS, and Leapfrog.
• Strong communication, organisation, and time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
