The Opportunity

Arup's Fire Engineering team combines technical excellence, innovation, and creative problem-solving to develop fire safety solutions for some of the world's most complex and iconic projects. As a Graduate Fire Engineer, you will work alongside industry-leading experts to create safe, sustainable, and high-performing built environments.

What you'll do

  • Contribute to the development of fire strategies for a wide range of building types and project stages.
  • Apply performance-based fire engineering principles to solve complex design challenges.
  • Undertake fire safety risk assessments for existing buildings.
  • Carry out site inspections and witness fire protection systems during construction.
  • Utilise specialist fire engineering software to analyse and model fire safety performance.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to review and assess building designs in both 2D and 3D environments.

Is this role right for you?  

For this opportunity, we are seeking the following qualifications, skills and attributes:    

An undergraduate or bachelor's degree (or equivalent)  

  • Fire Engineering
  • Architectural Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Structural Engineering

Together with:

  • Knowledge or interest in areas such as thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, fluid dynamics, fire dynamics, material behaviour and industrial risk will be advantageous. 

    Experience or exposure to the following is beneficial:

  • Autodesk Revit, Navisworks or AutoCAD
  • Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Reviewing building drawings and digital models

To be considered for a graduate opportunity, your application must include a copy of your academic transcript and meet the following criteria:  

  • Full working rights in the country of application  
  • No more than 12 months of full-time experience in a comparable role  
  • Recently graduated, or on track to graduate, from your most recent degree, related to your role of choice, before employment starts.

Eligibility  

We're able to consider candidates who require an employment permit to work in Ireland, where the role and offered salary meet the Irish Government's eligibility criteria (for example, under the Critical Skills or General Employment Permit schemes). All Employment Permits are granted at the discretion of the Deciding Officer with offers contingent to obtaining the correct immigration to work and reside in Ireland
