The Opportunity
• Deliver hands-on electrical and infrastructure design, including LV, MV, HV, earthing and bonding, traction power and ASP Level 3 designs, producing calculations, drawings and specifications while guiding junior team members.
• Review and verify electrical designs completed by others in areas where you hold assessed competency.
• Manage design activities in alignment with Arup’s Design Management Manual and Quality Management System.
• Lead significant and complex electrical design packages, including resource planning, project coordination and representation at internal and external meetings.
• Contribute to long-term strategic planning, including potential involvement in team performance management, budgeting, and commercial negotiations with clients and suppliers.

Is this role right for you?
• Recognised tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering (preferred) or a related engineering discipline, with experience in one or more key rail electrical systems such as LV/HV distribution, traction power, overhead wiring systems, or earthing and bonding.
• Strong understanding of relevant Australian Standards, legislation, authority requirements and industry best practice.
• Experience working on large multidisciplinary engineering projects—ideally in rail—within a consulting environment, supported by familiarity with relevant design and modelling software.
• Excellent communication and technical writing skills, with the ability to engage effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders and an appreciation of broader engineering disciplines.
• Professional membership or progression toward Chartered Status, coupled with proven knowledge of OH&S and quality procedures and a commitment to high-quality, safe, and sustainable design outcomes.
