As a Senior Electrical Engineer - Renewables at Arup in Sydney, you will play a key role in delivering complex renewable energy projects across Australia and the wider region, working across solar PV, wind, battery energy storage and grid connection initiatives from feasibility through to delivery. You will contribute to power system studies, renewable energy and grid connection assessments, and the design of electrical systems, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders to deliver high‑quality, practical outcomes.

The Opportunity
- Deliver electrical engineering inputs for renewable energy projects, including solar PV, wind and battery energy storage systems, supporting projects from feasibility through to detailed design and delivery in line with relevant standards and network requirements.
- Undertake and support power system and grid connection studies, including technical assessments and documentation required for connection applications and generator performance standards within the National Electricity Market.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary project teams and external stakeholders to develop coordinated, practical electrical solutions that meet client, project and regulatory requirements.
- Support and guide junior engineers through day‑to‑day technical input, informal mentoring and knowledge sharing, contributing to team capability and quality outcomes.
- Engage with clients and project stakeholders to provide clear technical input, contribute to meetings and presentations, and support the delivery of trusted, high‑quality advice.
Is this role right for you?
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, with approximately 4-6 years’ relevant industry experience delivering electrical or power systems work within an engineering consultancy or similar project‑based environment.
- Demonstrated experience supporting renewable energy and power systems projects, such as solar PV, wind and/or battery energy storage, including involvement in power system or grid connection studies.
- Working knowledge of power system modelling and analysis, including exposure to tools such as PSSE, PSCAD, PowerFactory or similar, and experience contributing to Generator Performance Standards (GPS) or related connection documentation.
- A solid understanding of Australian electricity networks, standards and regulatory frameworks, with the ability to apply relevant codes, guidelines and safety requirements to project delivery.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, support junior engineers, and contribute clear technical input to clients and stakeholders.
