The Opportunity
We are seeking a Principal ICT Consultant to lead the design and delivery of structured cabling and ICT network infrastructure for data centres and mission‑critical environments. You will drive solution strategy, oversee multidisciplinary coordination (MEP, architecture, security, BMS), guide project teams, and engage directly with clients to ensure resilience, scalability, and operational excellence.
As a Senior ICT Design Engineer at Arup, you will:
Leadership & Delivery: Lead ICT scope across concept, design, procurement, installation, commissioning, and handover; set technical direction, quality benchmarks, and delivery plans,
Systems Design: Define end‑to‑end ICT architectures (MDA/HDA/EDA, fibre/copper plant, pathways/containment, meet‑me rooms, MPO/LCP topologies, ODF/IDF/MDF layouts) for high‑availability facilities,
Standards & Compliance: Ensure alignment to international standards (TIA/EIA, ISO/IEC) and client requirements; author design criteria, SoR/SoW, specifications, and BoQ.,
Interfaces: Coordinate integrations with DCIM/EPMS/SCADA, security (CCTV, ACS), and BMS; manage interoperability, addressing latency, redundancy and failover,
Reliability Engineering: Design for N+1/N+N, single‑point‑of‑failure mitigation, and maintainability (hot/cold aisle, containment, pathway segregation, redundancy domains),
Commissioning & Acceptance: Define FAT/SAT, test scripts, labelling/asset registry, as‑built documentation, and operational playbooks; lead stakeholder witnessing and sign‑offs,
Advisory & Client Management: Shape roadmaps (capacity, lifecycle, migration), provide value engineering, and present to executive stakeholders; support bids and proposals,
Team Development: Mentor engineers, establish best practices, and contribute to knowledge‑sharing and delivery governance.

We're looking for someone who is passionate about deliver robust and scalable Senior ICT infrastructure for data centre and mission-critical environments.
Degree in Electrical/Telecommunications/ICT Engineering or related field,
- 10+ years in ICT/telecoms infrastructure design & delivery, including data centre or mission‑critical projects,
- Deep knowledge of structured cabling (ANSI/TIA‑568/942, ISO/IEC 11801), fibre (OS2/OM4), MPO/MTP, copper (Cat6A+), and containment design,
- Experience with DCIM tooling and integration with EPMS/SCADA/BMS; understanding of network monitoring and telemetry,
- Demonstrated leadership of multi‑disciplinary teams and vendor/contractor coordination; strong client‑facing communication in English,
- Ability to produce and review SoR/SoW, specifications, drawings, BoQs, and commissioning documentation.
Nice to have
Exposure to cybersecurity and OT network considerations (segmentation, secure remote access, hardening),
Familiarity with TIA‑942 Rated/ISO classes, Uptime/Tier objectives, and operational KPIs (availability, MTTR, PUE/WUE impacts from ICT choices),
Experience in brownfield migrations, capacity upgrades, and live‑site change management.
