The Opportunity

Act as a key member of multidisciplinary project teams, delivering high-quality building services designs while supervising junior engineers and CAD staff and ensuring outputs meet time and cost constraints. Lead the development of calculations, drawings, tender documentation, feasibility studies, and reports, while progressing toward professional chartership. Work with significant autonomy, reporting to the Project Manager/Director, and collaborate closely with internal teams and external stakeholders including clients, architects, and contractors. Responsible for interpreting client briefs, coordinating with co-professionals, representing the discipline in meetings, contributing to innovative design solutions, overseeing BIM and engineering teams, conducting site inspections, and managing small to medium-sized projects.

Responsibilities:
Undertake conceptual design studies, sketching, and report preparation while delivering detailed mechanical designs including HVAC, water services, drainage, fire protection, and specialist systems. Review and mentor junior engineers, support their development, and ensure high-quality, coordinated design outputs aligned with specifications and drawings. Contribute to cost estimation, develop and evaluate design options, and maintain strong coordination with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders. Prepare specifications, contract documents, and technical reports, attend design meetings, and conduct site inspections, FATs, and commissioning support. Promote sustainable and innovative design solutions, ensure integration of building services within overall design, manage multiple project responsibilities, and build strong industry relationships while continuously enhancing technical expertise.

Is this role right for you?

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Degree in Building Services, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering with progress toward Chartered/Professional Engineer status
  • Minimum 12 years of post-qualification experience in mechanical design
  • Strong expertise in data centres, healthcare, laboratories, HVAC systems, pressure cascades, and specialist gases
  • Experience across medium to large-scale multidisciplinary projects
  • Good knowledge of industry standards, codes, and sustainable design practices
  • Skilled in system design software and BIM environments, with Revit as an added advantage
  • Well-organised, adaptable team player with the ability to deliver projects on time and within budget
